This head has a very short decay with no ringing. Regular hits are a little on the dull side, although they are punchy and thick. I found myself doing different kinds of rimshots to get more expression and tone out of it. In this case it produces an aggressive, snappy crack, with the tone of more average heads but much shorter decay. Very sophisticated and hip sound. If you play a lot of dense, in-your-face funk patterns, this head will compliment your playing. For me, it made me go nuts and be way more technical than I normally am (I usually use an Evans EC Reverse Dot). For less intense, less complicated playing, it's a little unsatisfying due to the lack of sustain.
