I bought a new kit back in January. As the employee who was helping me carry the stuff to my car he said "Wow, I don't know if I'm supposed to give you that, but I really don't want to have to take it out." So he gave it to me for free. When I got home I played it for a while, then pulled the pillow out. It's amazing what it does for it. The drum had a very nice resonance but the pillow was just fantastic. It gave my bass drum the nice dull thudded sound I love. A regular pillow will always work just fine, but this pillow is specifically made for your bass drum. If you want a great bass drum sound, and have $20 to splash on stuff, definitely buy this. Even when I mic up my drums to record with my band, the mic (which is a high quality mic), doesnt pick up and resonance or unwanted overtones. I highly recommend this to all drummers who wish to have a muffled sound. Good luck!
