Evans EC2 Coated Batter HeadEvans broke new ground by developing the EC2 batter head, which removes unwanted drum overtones, focuses pitch, and enhances attack without inhibiting dynamic range as other damped heads do. The EC2 features an "Edge-Control" ring mounted underneath two plies of 7mil film. By controlling, instead of eliminating, edge vibration, the ring isolates and damps higher overtones, enhancing low-end and attack, and enabling a broader tuning range. The EC2 coated tom head has a fine, translucent frosted coating. The result is a warm tone and additional focus.

Ths is a great head, I've tried 3 different heads from evans on my snare, this is by far the best. It doesn't dampen all of the overtones, just the ones you don't want. my gretsch catalina snare has a gorgeous pop to it. I still haven't tried the control reverse dot head, that may be better. I did stick a couple strips of duct tape on just to shorten the decay a bit.
