This is not a beginner's guitar! It's too good for beginners. I don't even let my fellow students play it. This guitar is better then any guitar in it's price range now only $129. This is too cheap and unbelievable. I chose this one over three guitars at $179 because the others won't rock the way I wanted. Not that it has the SG style, it rocks like one. I can make this axe sound like the irritating buzz that was made by Angus (AC/DC)with my used Peavey amp, this is too cool to be true. I can't do it with Fender, Stratocaster 2, and Silvertone. I love this guitar from the day I received it. I will buy another one if this one gets stolen. The one bad thing about this guitar is that the tone knob makes scratchy noise just when you turn it up. I would also recommend replacing the strings with light Gibson or any nickel.
I love this guitar. It sounds so great. Now i can play just like AC DC. Yeah! It rocks
I love this guitar. I wanted to learn how to play guitar so I could jam with some friend to some of our favorite classics. My favorite being AC/DC. I just love the guitar work. So I found out Angus played an SG. Nice guitar. Too much money though. So at first it was all about the look and style of the guitar to match Angus. Then I talked to several dozen people, and it turned out that the SG was a great guitar period. So when I found this guitar for $199 Canadian, I bought it immediately! So far I love it to death. It's great to play and learn on. I thought some of the frets were too narrow. Then recently I picked up an Ibanez and was shocked to see it was way more narrow. I don't think I could play that thing! Anyway, the only downside thus far has been the stock strings. They go out of tune easily. Of course, for a beginner like me I think this is ok though, since my ears need "tuning" and this repeated exercise will do my ears good! The finish is smooth and very hard to scratch too. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone just starting out.
For years I have wanted an SG. Although I have owned a fender Strat, Gibson 335 (58 re-issue)and other guitars, the SG was the one I coveted since my high school days. Nowadays, the cheapest Gibson is no less than $550.00. So, when I saw the Epiphone SG special for $179.00, I had to play it. After an hour at the guitar store, I felt it was a no brainer buy. The tone is great. If you want a great little rock & roll or blues rock sound, this is a good, inexpensive, and attractive SG (authorized) clone. Mine had a broken pickup selector switch so, I picked it up for $125.00 and replaced the switch myself.
This guitar is awesome. It arrived in tune and the tuners hold the tuning very well. The action was a bit high but that was quickly adjusted. I love the finished neck.
