I've only been playing mandolin a few months. I have a couple A styles and an F style. Been a guitar player for 40 years. the mando came pretty easy and is a lot of fun. The mandobird is a must have instrument, with a processor you can play anything from bluegrass to heavy metal. Sounds really cool with a little distortion for Rolling Stones stuff, Jumpin jack flash and Satisfaction are awesome. As far as the instrument itself, the construction, fit and finish are fantastic. I would prefer a wider nut width and I had to lower the action quite a bit, but it plays great.

This is really an axe for mando players. I say this because the sound is that of an electric guitar, not a mando. Given that, it's a fun instrument. Add some decent strings (I like Elixirs), and be sure to work with the bridge adjustments. (I had to add a few washers on the outside to pull some of the bridges back far enough for proper intonation. I also made a new nut with closer spacing.) For all its quirkiness I like this instrument. It's fast, warm sounding and, for me, it is becoming my favorite Bach machine.

"A Fun Change"

It is a fun change of pace for a mandolin player if you are looking to change your sound for more of a rock feel. Be advised though, for someone who only plays mandolin (not guitar), the playing techniques are different and take a little getting used to. Resonance is much longer and resistance is a lot less. It is a nice toy though to bring out during a show.

This little bird screams when some gain is added. It plays great and sounds great right out of the box. Easy to adjust the bridge. Well worth waiting for.

This instrument is truly unique. It can make fantastic sounds that no other instrument can replicate and it looks great. The price is right and overall this instrument is perfect; its playability, its appearance, its ability to make people ask where and how to get one, all are perfect.
