Not a bad box to beat on, the blues and jazz too.Mine came with intonation problems - this is Gibson/Epiphones fault. Mine also came with string height issues again Gibson/Epiphones issues that became mine. Last of the negative 3 weeks ago I put the guitar cable plug in & the inner half of the 1/4 input fell into to guitar's cavity...It did not come "loose" the inner piece simply "broke" off it's mated part.
I own a few guitars SG, Strat, Ibanez, Les Paul and my latest acquisition the Epiphone Dot (ES335).Overall, it plays and feels great, it has balls and is very reliable. I tend to bend strings a lot so it's important for me to have an instrument that stays in tune. This one does. By far, one of the most underrated instrument on the market. Get one.
For someone like me who enjoys merseybeat music it is important that there is a nice clean sound. When I first opened this up I was expecting a mediocre guitar instead I got a well finished and clean sounding guitar.
Ever drive one of those tiny vintage European sports cars? Pretty fun, huh? The DOT is like that. It is a fun instrument to play. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the high end stock. But it is just fun. Low action. Mellow sound down low and good and dirty up high. I've got a Les Paul, a U.S. Strat and a hot-rodded Mexican Strat. The Dot ranks up there and when someone tries it, they don't want to give it back. I give it 3 stars for quality and performance and I add one star for value = 4 stars.
I have played the guitar for 45 years and switched to electric from my acoustic just a year ago. First a Strat and then to the Dot. I should have done this 20 years ago, I love this guitar. I have played Gibsons, Martins, Alvarez - some quality instruments and my "Cherry Dot" can play with any of them. I took this out of the box tuned it up and have not stopped playing yet. Feels good in the hand, sounds great and is "drop dead gorgeous" to look at.
