I've been at it for 20 years now and I finally found an amp that I love. I almost got an eq pedal along with this amp because of the single eq section but decided to wait until I got to play with it for a while. No need for the eq pedal, the amp sounds awesome on all four drive modes. The clean hi-gain (crunch) mode is a little thin sounding but in a band setting it's not so noticeable. All of the other modes are simply spectacular. This little guy is also loud as hell. I was afraid that going from a 120W half stack to a 50W combo wouldn't work out. But alas, the Screamer was plenty loud at only 50% volume. Kudos to Engl for making a killer product.
I was looking for a practice amp with the warmth and feel of my JCM 800 series stack....this is it! (I have no doubt that this has all the power you will need to gig with also) For a plug and play guy like myself this is all you will need. If you are looking for silly effects and EQs you may want to consider something else. However, I plug straight in with my Les paul Custom and this thing screams. More importantly, the tone I get from my Yngwie signature series strat is delicious! I haven't played my Strat this much in years!
