This bass has an excellent neck alignment, beautiful finish and the sound I wanted. I had to set the strings down a little (setup). The price is unbeatable and the service superb. Thanks, TC

I've owned an Engelhardt ES9 bass for about 4 years now, and all I have to say is, this bass is a joy to play and is extremely well built. At the time when I bought it, I compared this bass to several other different brands, all of which had an extremely thick neck and a very thin sound. The Engelhardt ES9 has a fast, easy playing neck and a big, warm sound. All this bass needs (as do most other new instruments as well) is a little setup and adjustment from a qualified technician. Overall, it is a great bass, and I'd recommend it over any other plywood bass.

This is my first double bass, and perfect for a novice player like myself. Being a plywood bass, it has very low maintenance, yet still produces great tone and smooth response, both arco and pizzicato. Very desirable ebony fingerboard and tailpiece make this a top-of-the-line laminate bass.

I have had my ES9 for about 10 days and am very happy. It could use high end strings, and a little adjusting, but overall, I could not be more pleased with the fit and finish and the big sound. At this price it is a real winner, and with the high humidity where I live, the all plywood construction is a better bet. Also, there are more reviews and comments on this particular bass than any other in the general price range. It helps to know that others have had good luck with the produce.

I bought my Engelhardt ES-9 here in the summer of 2001 and it is the best thing I have done. I had played electric bass for about 7 years before getting my upright. I have played them very little since then. I love the sound that the ES-9 has, especially after adding Thomastik Spirocore strings. I would highly recommend this bass to anyone.
