Eminence Patriot Ragin' Cajun 10" 75W Guitar Speaker
RAJIN CAJUN 10 SPEAKER: PATRIOT SERIES:

OVERVIEW:
Electric guitars, guitar amplification, and the birth of Rock-n-Roll in the 1950's collectively established a new use for loudspeakers. Speaker choices were limited in those days and amplifier manufacturers had to purchase products that were common to other applications. Usually, this meant a low-power speaker, often with an Alnico magnet, and limited cone and coil travel.

Due to the nature of the speaker's construction, the sound of the guitar and amplifier combination was impacted by the speaker design. Amplified guitar was a bit more aggressive duty than most other speaker applications at the time and the speakers were frequently challenged in terms of their mechanical movement and linearity. Guitarist learned how to control these non-linearities and use the resulting tonal characteristics to their advantage. Speaker break-up became cool and was a desired feature by most guitarists. The great guitar tones we know now are a result of those events.

Although there are a multitude of distinctive guitar speaker tones available today, they can be broken down into two main categories. We have Marshall and Celestion to thank for the distinctively "British tones" that we are so familiar with. Fender, Peavey, and SLM (Crate/Ampeg) worked with speaker companies like Eminence, Oxford, CTS, JBL, and Electrovoice to establish tones that are distinctively "American".

Eminence is proud to present the Patriot and Redcoat series of guitar speakers. Incorporating both British and American cone technology into speakers that we manufacture in the USA gives us the ability to provide you with virtually any tone you desire. Be it British or American, clean or dirty, big bass or screaming highs, we have a speaker that will allow you to "Pick Your Sound".

Having recently had a very old Eminence speaker go bad in a 1973 Ampeg GT 10 amp, a cost effective replacement was needed in short order.Having read the literature in the Music123 catalog on the new Patriot and Redcoat speakers from Eminence, I decided that the Rajun Cajun would be the one that I needed to do the job.Eminence, You have done it again! The Cajun is everything that your descriptions say it is and more! A very good fit to breath new "life and sound" into an old solid state amp(Because of this speaker, people actually think that the amp is tubed, due to its warmth , break-up & touch sensitive qualities).Eminence and Music123, I salute you for bringing such a quality product to the public.

Completely transformed my little Epiphone Valve Special. This gives the amp and guitar a wide range of tone and overdrive flexibility I didn't have before. If you've got a combo amp with a 10" speaker that is missing something, this one will fix you up.

I'd heard alot of positve reviews about the Cajuns in the HR DeVille4X10, but, you never really KNOW until you hear it for yourself! These speakers ROCK!!! I did everything thing to try to make the stock DeVille sound more like a classic Fender amp. I re-tubed it (which helped some), tried multiple effects set-ups and finally I said, "I'm gonna give these Ragin' Cajuns that everyone's been raving about a try!" They took my amp which was pretty dark sounding and they added chinky bass end and a bright crisp high end response. Midrange is smooth on these speakers also. I couldn't be happier! The guys in my classic rock band are gonna be BLOWN AWAY by the tone on this thing now! GREAT JOB Eminence! Thanks for the speedy service Music123! Ken C. Las Vegas, NV

"Great upgrade for small tube amp."
by Dadawads - 8/6/2009 11:29:11 PM

I thought this speaker was a great upgrade for my Johnson Loredo tube amp, which came with an Alphatone speaker. First, the Rajin Cajun is a lot louder. But even better, the tone has much more depth. With the original speaker the amp was all mids. The new speaker added both highs and lows. I actually have to run the bass EQ knob on the amp at 3-4 now instead of 10 as I did with the original speaker. My little 15+ watt tube amp now sounds very big.
