Why Buy

Gauges 11-15-26-40.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in strings in over forty years and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

Elixir Nanoweb Mandolin Strings are covered with an ultrathin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. They're coated with the patented Nanoweb technology. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the enemies of tone!

Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to 5 times longer than ordinary strings.

Elixir Medium Nanoweb Mandolin Strings
ELIXIR Guitar Strings Feature NANOWEB Coating, a unique high technology polymer that provides increased protection of wound strings from perspiration, dirt, and body oils, and still provides great sound.

"Elixir strings are good"

I gig on bluegrass mandolin 2x/wk or more, and give private lessons. I also play flattop & archtop guitar. The last few years I always use Elixirs. OK, the solid gauges are just like any other fine string. The wound strings keep their tone and rarely break at the nut and saddle...because the nanoweb keeps gunk and corrosive sweat out of the windings. Unlike other sets, the solid strings may die well before the wound strings. In terms of fine and consistent sound, and also $/playing time, I seek out Elixirs.

These strings do a great job and they do last long. I find that they are a little tough on the fingers, compared to the Fender ones, but these are definitely a better quality. All around good product.

"Not as bright as Phosphore bronze"

I found I could not get the clear ringing sound on my mandolin from the Elixer. Moved them over to a mando banjo and I loved the sound. I think phosphore bronze sounds best on my Gibson A4.
