mic is good on vocals and it does cut through, but its a HOT mic. The gain is hot and it has a high range to it. It sparkles without having a tinny sound. I think its best when miking a hot guitar cab. There's no switch, so vocally, when using it at extreme volumes, have a sound guy there to watch the gain. Nice quality. I like the EV quality over the Sennheiser. EVs just feel right in you hand. I also like cad mics as well.

The only drawback I have found with this mike is no longer can I work the side of the mike. The flat head design takes some getting used to. The sweet spot is dead set in the middle. But what a sweet spot. Open -- clear --makes it ez to sing. And the feed back rejection is excellent. I have 2, just in case.

"Very Nice Mic"

I've been using sennheiser 815 S series mics. They were cheap but did the trick. I tried switching to the EV, and am glad I did. The EV's have an all around better sound, tighter and cleaner. They seem to have more gain - a hotter mic that then 815. I can also crank up the gain on my board higher with the EV than with the 815 before getting any sort of feedback - very nice for female vocalists with softer voices. I know Sennheiser makes great mics because I use them for all sorts of applications, but this EV is really nice. I now use them for all my vocals. You won't be disappointed!
