First of all, these headphones are great. I use them for tracking drums and they allow you to hear the mix and kill the outside volume very well. They're also comfortable. Comparing them to my HD280's they are a much better buy. They form a better seal around the ears and therefor block out more noise. They're also simplistic in design and resist damage unlike the HD280's which have been broken and repaired many times. I probably wouldn't recommend these headphones for mixing, but they're definitely perfect for tracking and for playing along with music while drumming. Also can be great to protect your ears while drumming or for setting up a mic on a loud 4x12 cab. Don't hesitate to pick up a pair of these!

These headphones are awesome! I use them to play drums while listening to cd's. I have used several other brands and nothing comes close to the Direct Sound EX-29's. They are really light, too. I still can't believe the difference!!
