DigiTech Vocalist Live 2 Harmony Processor
Vocalist Live Harmonizer 2 uses breakthrough musIQ technology to directly analyze the output of any electric or pre-amplified acoustic guitar (no special MIDI guitars or hex-outputs needed). Then it generates the correct vocal harmony. For example, if you're singing an A over the chords that are generally found in the key of G, Vocalist will harmonize with a C. But, if you then play an A major, the Digitech Vocalist will shift to the C#...because like any good harmony singer, it listens to the guitar!

With musIQ, forget about the technology just sing and play! Skip complicated programming and having to analyze each song chord-by-chord; just 1. Plug in your microphone and guitar; 2. Pick a 3rd or 5th-above or below harmony preset; 3. Sing and play — when you want harmony, just step on the footswitch!

Patent-pending musIQ technology combines new Note Detection algorithms with state-of-the-art Harmony Generation. The Note Detection section analyzes complex guitar waveforms and determines which notes in each chord are critical to accurate harmony. This information is then fed to an advanced harmony engine that creates harmonies consistent with both the singer's melody and the underlying guitar accompaniment.

This totally new, musically-intelligent effects processor hybrid of traditional chordal and scalic harmony modes means that Vocalist Live musIQ harmonies stay true to not only the overall key and song scale, but also localized variations due to chords that aren't part of the global key. You've never heard anything like it!

I am mainly playing solo right now but I also jam with some friends and this thing is just great. I play electric and accoustic guitar, bass, keyboards and doing some original recording. All you do is Just plug in your mike and guitar and sing. Real simple to use that anyone could use it. I have been waiting a loooong time for this harmonizer to come out. I really love it. I think you should give it a try. Don't like it? Just return it for a full refund.

I got excited when I first learned in NAMM reports that this little gizmo was going to be available. I waited months for it to be shipped! I finally got one, and I am not disappointed. Rarely does one find something that lives up to its pre-market hype, but this unit does. It's compact, well built, and does exactly what it says it will do in the promos. What a relief to not have to program or tweak a set of knobs or worry about whether you set the thing correctly as you head into a live performance tune. I have to say I was a bit cynical as to its promised performance when I ordered it, but after talking with the sales rep, I opted to buy and one and try it out. This one isn't going back. While it's not perfect for every song you might sing, it is definitely a major plus on a lot of tunes. I chose the Vocalist Live 2 over the more expensive and feature-full Live 4 because I WANTED simplicity and didn't need 4-part harmony with me. Three part is fine, plus my duo partner sings, too, so that adds one more part if I want it. Bottom line? Worth the money. Gripes? You gotta sing on tune or it does weird, warblling things. It's not too forgiving in the "off key" department. And you have to play at least a triad for it to "think" a harmony part for what you're singing. Best feature? It remembers your last chord and harmonizes against that even if not playing...great feature for a capella moments. Conclusion? Best thing for a guitar player/vocalist since the invention of the drum machine!

So I purchased this unit about 6 months ago, it is what it is. Not bad for the price, and if you're an acoustic act looking for dead on backups this is for you. Just remeber if you sing off key it goes with you. Also has some great reverbs and compression for the vocals.... Bottom line this is worth the money

I don't usually write product reviews, but since I’ve read and benefitted from them, I guess it’s my turn. I purchased the DigiTech Vocalist Live 2 Harmony Processor almost a year ago and have used it regularly at my gigs ever since. It may be the best professional purchase I’ve made since I bought my Martin guitar almost twenty years ago. It’s changed the way I do my gigs, how I approach the songs I select to learn, and in general, has enhanced the performance of my repertoire in every way. I promise you, if anything ever happens to it, I’ll buy another one immediately! I had a ball using it at home, but felt a little uncertain about trying it on my gig. I’m a solo, singer/guitarist and was concerned that people would think it was too “gimmicky.” After my first few sets, I asked customers, the manager, the bartenders, my friends, anyone and everyone what they thought of it. The response was overwhelming: everyone loved it! Other musicians, in particular, were amazed and impressed. I’d see them looking at me on stage, just trying to figure out how I was making the harmony happen. Several thought I was using pre-recorded tapes. They couldn’t believe that something that sounded so good could be so effortless. All agreed it was an enhancement and not a gimmick. This gave me the confidence to continue and I’ve never looked back. But there’s more! The extra features are great, too. I especially like the way the compression setting makes my voice sound up-front and the harmonies blend so well together. I wish you could hear my version of “Seminole Wind,” “Wagon Wheel,” or especially “Man of Constant Sorrow” - with my Vocalist 2, bluegrass harmonies have never sounded so sweet! I set the harmony level on the unit at about one o’clock which really brings them out. I also love having the handy guitar tuner included in the unit, as well as the eq and reverb features, too. Digitech has demos of both units at their website that every prospective buyer should check out. Bottom line, do yourself a favor and try the DigiTech Vocalist Live 2 Harmony Processor yourself. You won’t be sorry!

"works well"

I'm not a great singer, but this thing makes me sound a whole lot better. The effects also help besides the harmonization. It really is amazing how this thing works. It is also durable and "road ready". This thing works well in all settings; whether you are a solo performer and want some background vocals or in a band setting. It's a lot of fun to use. Buy it now!
