This pedal is all you would need to play metal, but the "grunge" sound would actually be better achieved with the DEATH METAL pedal by DigiTech. The grunge pedal is capable of a very saturated distortion while the DEATH METAL pedal is a much more wishey washey distortion that you would find in grunge.\m/
I like alternative punk like Social Distortion and Offspring. This distortion gives me that type of sound, plus punk and metal. It is great for recording, there's not really much background noise. I like doing solos with it; it screams. Overall, I would totally recommend this pedal to anyone wanting REAL distortion. Great bang for your buck.
I just bought this product today, and when I unpacked it I had no problems at all with missing pieces or anything! It looks very nice, but much less purple as the pictures shows above. But the color doesn't really bother me, the sound is nice! Everything you hear in the demo you will hear in real (that doesn't count for a guitar that's Broke =D) It has a nice sound for someone who likes to play Pixies Style, for me it is =D! I can recommend this to everyone! 5ive stars.
This pedal is cool, the battery runs out quick but all in all it can make you loose yourself in its metal potential.
I have tried several pedals to get the distortion I wanted, that crunch high metallica distortion sound and this pedal comes the closest so far. I have a Ibanez RG 370 DX guitar run through this grunge petal and a crate half stack, Grunge all the way up high 3/4 low 3/4 and loud 1/4 through a clean channel. I have yet to see a pedal with this kind of high crunch distortion. GET IT YOU WILL LOVE IT
