I followed the remarks of a previous commenter and have not been dissapointed. the Hite Bari mpc like other Hite mps plays as stated. Clean rich sound. Plays with ease of flexibility and expression for quartet, classical and concert band. Even sounds good on a Bass sax!I highly recommend this to any one looking for an all around mouthpiece with smooth rich power and refinement. However if you are looking for a peircing Jazz band fussion sound this will be too tame for you. I would compare this mouthpiece in sound and richness to a Morgan C1 and cleaner more focussed than a Rousseau N5. I predominately use this on any of my bari's for quartet to Concert music and on occassion in small jazz venues so as to not overpower the room but maintain a full rich sound.

I've played the Hite artist mouthpiece on the high school's Yamaha YBS-52 Bari for about a year now. I haven't tried very many other mouthpieces, but I think the Hite gives me the sound I want. Compared to the 7* Otto Link metal STM I've played, the Hite gives a brighter and richer sound. The Link is more spread and dull sounding. However, I've also played a no-name student mouthpiece, as well as a HR Yanagisawa 5, both of which were a little too bright and harsh for my liking. The Hite has just the right amount of "buzz" while retaining its warmth. As for how the piece feels, it is quite small near the tip, similar to the link. The Hite's bite plate is pretty soft. I made permanent teethmarks in it within the first week. But the piece is really comfortable for me. I normally use medium LaVoz reeds in wind ensemble, classical, and sax quartet. This setup is really sweet sounding and easy to play. For more projection, in jazz band, I use Vandoren ZZ 3.5. Overall, the Hite does sound "rich and lean" as the advertisement claims, and is available at a very reasonable price. It is handcrafted, well-made, and an excellent choice for anyone looking for an all-around mouthpiece.

After finally get my hands on one of these I was pleasantly rewarded. This professional mpc performs great on all my Bari's. From my 1931 Buescher to my Selmer knock off. As stated, it plays smooth and clean, plays nicely and up high with good tone. Flexible enough for almost anything. It seems to be best suited for Concert band and quartet and can be pushed into jazz, too. Although it lacks the edginess some would like for standing out, it gives a big smooth sound and can be controled to a whisper. Can change reeds and alter the sound too.
