This pedal is so cool and cheaper than other tremolos. I love all my dano pedals! This is versatile beyond reason. The hard/soft switch lets you go from a volume swell type trem (soft) to a on/off type trem, sort of bursts rather than swells (hard setting). I really only use the soft switch with like 3/4 depth and then vary the speed as needed. This thing can make fast machine gun pulses or slow warm swells and everything in between.

I like this dorky yellow plastic pedal. The trem effect is dramatic and sounds "vintage," though a little robotic. For adjustments, the pedal has a knob for speed, a knob for depth, and a "hard/soft" switch. Speed controls the length of time between the "waves," and while I think there's a bit too much range wasted on long waves that I've never heard many people use, you definitely have full control over that aspect of the sound. The depth knob is supposed to control how high and low the "waves" get, but I think it's really meant more for calibrating the pedal with your guitar and amp to get the trem effect clean and audible rather than to give you a wide range in sound. As for the switch, the "soft" setting on the switch gives you a vintage trem sound, while the "hard" setting cuts out all the rise and fall of the trems and only gives you the peaks. It's more of an echo effect, not completely unlike the opening of The Smiths'"How Soon is Now?" though I'm sure they did that differently. Another neat thing about this pedal: I tried it with my bass and it sounds fantastic in the "soft" setting, even on my extended low end string. Leapt right out of the opening theme from "Twin Peaks," if you know what I mean. I do have one serious complaint with this pedal. Particularly in the hard setting and at lower speeds, it will completely cut your guitar off from the amp while it finishes its trem effect. If you play another note prior to the trem, it won't go through, making a wide range of settings just about useless. I haven't had much of this problem on soft/fast settings, though I'm not exactly using this pedal to do Stevie Vai solos. Overall, I'd demand more range and the ability to "play-through" the trem on a more high-end unit, but for the price this pedal more than delivers. Recommended for anyone seeking cheap, authentic trem who doesn't mind using a plastic yellow pedal with "Tuna Melt" stamped on it.

This tremolo is great, without even considering the price. This is the one I keep coming back to and the one I keep trying to beat with more expensive tremolo pedals. I've had mine for over five years and I've gone through three bands and countless gigs in that time and itÆs still going strong. It's been mounted on various pedal boards, sat on the floor, been gigged with, and its still going strong. I have found all of the Danelectro effects I've bought to be reliable and I find the modulation effects in particular to be very musical and usable. They tend toward the "warm" side of things, so if you are looking for a hi-fi chorus or tremolo, this may not be the place to look, but if you are looking for vintage vibes, and letÆs face it most guitarists are, then you can't go wrong with Danelectro.
