Our band uses these lyres primarily because we march with piccolos instead of flutes, but nonetheless they are great. They are completely adjustable and stay in place. It's so much more convenient than having to worry about conventional lyres. I love using the flutist's friend.
I march with a piccolo player (I will be playing pic next year for marching band) and she has one of these, as the entire flute/pic section does. The only problem with these is that, if you march pic, it is almost impossible to play and have your music level with your eye. This is because, quite unfortunately, the left arm of virtually all piccolo players is not positioned anywhere near horizontally as it is with flute players. Other than that, it is great for flute players in marching band because you don't have to attach your music to your arm with rubber bands as my mom had to do in high school. (you can already see the problem here... no easy way to flip pages!)
I love this lyre. Its much better than any other I've tried. It's pretty comfortable, not too heavy, and has great glare-proof covers for your music. I use it at football games... but its great anywhere you need to play your flute but don't want to lug around a music stand. Also, the pages are easy to turn and it's pretty hard to break. (a good thing for a student)
This wrist mounted flute lyre is the only worthwhile flute lyre on the market. Our flutists find them to be comfortable and easy to read from. One caveat: They can break. I unknowingly (my desk is under here somewhere) stacked some method books on top of one, and it broke where the curved wrist part meets the back. And, make sure you order enough for every flutist. (A girl takes it very personally if everybody else gets one, and she's stuck with that wire coat hanger thing. Well, rightfully so.) I like the DEG trombone lyre as well; it mounts on the bell.
