These are great student strings! Although I am an experienced musician, I am new to the cello. I was frustrated with the inconsistent tone and intonation on Perlon and some inexpensive steel strings (as much caused by beginner technique as any inherent qualities of the strings). My playing improved markedly after putting on a set of Preludes. They are loud, ring true, are very forgiving, and almost wolf-resistant, to boot. For the price, they can't be beat.
