Bought mine about a year ago. It holds tune and sounds very nice. The action is smooth.. I've not played a pro guitar so I can't say pedal/lever play is good or bad but there is no binding of these mechanisms. I can also say that the nothing about the instrument has discouraged my willingness to learn the art of pedal steel. You'll want to pick up a cheap keyboard bench (adjustable height), finger picks and a tone bar. I was sitting on the couch to start and it was uncomfortable (seat too low). I'd DEFINITELY recommend it if you're curious about playing. It's the perfect beginner instrument at almost 1/3 the cost of a used pro model.
