My R-13 Bb/A clarinets are great instruments. Not new, to say the least, but still terrific, and still have the gorgeous tone I went for back in the late 70's!!
As we all know, Buffet clarinets are the choice of most professionals. Well, I am not a professional, but needed an A for orchestra. Of course I went with the Buffet. It is wonderful. The tone is extremely even and mellow. You barely even need to put air in the horn. The keywork is very comfortable and smooth to operate. All in all if you want an A clarinet, go with the R-13, you wont be sorry.
This Fall we decided it was time to upgrade clarinet. Mom called the band director and he basically said "buy this one". Come to Music123 website and it basically said "buy this one".You can spend more money for sure, but "this one" has a wonderful sound and is gorgeous.
I got this A clarinet after 3 years on a r-13 Bb and i can honestly say that this clarinet has just as good if not a better tone than anyother clarinet I have ever played. It plays the high notes well in tune, and you can get a really nice deep sound in the lower register. I strongly reccoment this clarinet.
