I just got my new R-13 Greenline a few days ago and it is amazing. I'm a 10th grader in high school participating in both symphonic band and marching band, this instrument is very nice. Nice tone(sweet, warm, dark), good intonation, very durable, and most of all it will not crack no matter what the humidity/temperature is. It's definitely woth spending your money on. I use a Vandoren M30 Mouthpiece, Vandoren Optimum Ligature, and 3.5 to 4 Gonzalez FOF reeds, Vandoren Traditional, Vandoren V-12, and Olivieri Reeds.

This clarinet is better than the regular R13. It has all the regular R13s benefits but it also won't crack or change like regular wooden clarinets do. It saves you the worrying the you half to do by warming up the outside of the wood. But even though it isn't changed by weather changes you still should not use it for marching or playing outside. Great!

This horn's tone is so sweet and beautiful. I completely fell in love with it when I first received it. Is better than a reg. R-13 in my opinion, because it has a very low chance of cracking, and I live in Pennsylvania. I highly suggest it!

Well a year later I am still a happy camper. It's always bugged me how I would pick a horn and it would change, usually becoming less resistant, brighter and often flat on the top joint. Not this time. I am well versed in the physics of clarinets, I make good custom clarinet barrels to give you an idea, I have taken many measurements and physically the horn hasn't changed, and it still has the characteristics that I liked in the first place. Having a point of constancy or stability to work from is a great benefit. Since I basically have a clarinet that is constant I am better able to judge the effects of different barrels and mouthpieces. And a little more time is freed up to devote to whatÆs really important, the shaping of the music. I think the spirit of the wood and the physical labor of the artisan that produced it imparts a special quality to the instrument, even so I like this composite instrument. As a pro in a regional orchestra, I appreciate having a horn that doesn't need replacing every couple of years. I use the money I save to go fishing. I have 2 students also playing on greenlines with the same results. Only negative, plating was bad on one horn.

I have played most top end clarinets. prestige , Opus and recorded on them. living in a cold dry climate all have cracked. The greenline plays as well as any of my horns.Darker than my reg. R13 a bit more like the opus and stable!! posts don't move as the body expands and contracts and the intonation is constant, no worry about the upper joint going flat, none of the r13's I've had, have has as smooth a bore.A plus I think is the stability, the resistance won't be different a year from now.
