This is a nice clarinet and very good for beginners. I started with a Buffet B-12 and it sounded great. Currently I am on my third year with it and I have not had any problems at all. If you are considering playing a clarinet and you are a beginner, I would highly suggest that you go for the Buffet B-12.
Excellent sound for a marching instrument!
The Buffet B12 was my first clarinet, which I rented in 6th grade (1996). It has lasted me through middle school, through four years of high school marching and symphonic band. While this thing has taken a literal beating, including the loss of its thumb rest, the silver ring at the bottom of the bell and numerous falls, drops and other assorted calamities, it has never failed me. I have had other clarinets, and all seem to break rather easily, but not the B12. This has lasted longer than the others. I only play on Buffets, and prefer the B12 to all other models.
I am now a senior in high school. I have been playing on the same clarinet since 4th grade......a BuffetB12....I absolutely love it. When I was younger I didn't realize how to take care of it...didn't know wooden was different from other clarinets so I didn't take care of it. I have marched with it 3 years in a row. I have dropped it twice...but I still can play on it like the day I got it......I am 1st chair and was 5th in the county.....the tone quality is superior......I am looking to buy another but it's so hard because even though I have had my clarinet for 8 years it still plays extremely well.....LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
When our daughter came home from school and told us that she would be playing the clarinet, I never realized the price could vary so much. We went to our local music store and they told us it would cost $835.00. I rented it for a month and then found this wonderful site. The price on this site was less than half of the price the local store wanted. I would have paid as much to rent one for one year as it cost me to buy it. It was exactly the same instrument as the one we had rented. We are very pleased with the price and the product. Thank you!
