Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal
The OC-3 is a direct replacement for the legendary OC-2 Octave. There are several new features: separate guitar and bass inputs, a direct output, and two new modes: Drive, which has built-in overdrive, and Poly, which enables the OC-3 to process more than one note at a time, making it the worlds first compact polyphonic octave pedal.

This pedal is nice I just wish it had a feature that would make the guitar harmonize instead of playing an octave. Overall, it's a great pedal for the price. I say buy.

Before ordering the Boss OC-3, I tried out the Boss OC-2 and MXR M-103 Blue Box. The polyphonic octave feature is what led me to choose the Boss OC-3, and I'm extremely happy with my decision! This stompbox provides a stable and excellent-sounding effect in polyphonic mode, even with full chords! For a cleaner bass sound, I send its output straight to one channel of the amp, sending its direct sound through my delay-chorus-reverb chain before reaching the other channel of my amp. The results are AWESOME!!! 2-octave mode gives excellent low-end, which allows a regular guitar to do effective single-finger bass work. Drive mode is just plain fun, giving a decent distortion sound when playing single notes. My one complaint is that Boss makes their effects pedals out of plastic, rather than the metal housing I'm used to in DigiTech pedals. Boss pedals feel extremely lightweight in comparison. I do love my Boss OC-3, and am glad I purchased it! I highly recommend this little gem!

"Great For Bass"

I own an OC-2 and wanted a "back up" so I thought I'd try the OC-3. The OC-3 is OC-2 and then some. I use the pedal with my bass and find that the drive channel allows you to dial in a nice amount of grit or heavy fuzz depending on your needs. The tracking is excellent in any mode. I usually use the Drive or Poly setting with my bass to add some "foundation" to the sound. Makes the bass sound fuller and warmer.

It's great for a Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Thin Lizzy sound. Easy to use and great for the price. Not used as much as most effects.
