Best single package unit that I have tried. I went from rack full of Boss stomp boxes to this unit. My foot is glued to the Wah function of the expression pedal, I am not sure how I ever played without one. Would like the unit to navigate between banks a little more conveniently. I operate it like individual stomp boxes with a couple of set patches on the first two or three banks to avoid confusion. I have found the unit easy to program and manipulate. It is a lot to ask but I wish the tuner had a needle like the TU12 as I have found the tuner to not be accurate enough. A friend of mine has one has a similar complaint. Maybe the next generation ME50 will have an upgraded tuner and an internal power supply. I will gladly pay a little extra.
Whenever I plug in my guitar and turn on the me-50, I always find a new way to play a song or I can create a new riff or song from just turning the knobs and experimenting. It is really easy to use and the controls are really versatile. The only things that could improve this pedal would be the harmonic effect and the octave effects on the expression pedal. They sound great on single notes but quite crappy on chords. The noise suppressor and all the other knobs on the upper part of the pedal are excellent and help me create a variety of tones. It also works with bass guitars.I recommend this to other musicians if they are looking for a versatile yet easy to use pedal for a decent price.
I am very, very happy. I used it live for the first time last night and it rocks. You can use each section separately from the other parts or use them together. You can also save settings as presets and scroll through the bank for the settings you want. Once you've opened a setting you can tweak it live. It sounds great. I love all of the distortions. The chorus is wonderful, and I could play with delay all day. I even had to play bass yesterday for one set and used the octave switch to play in drop D with changing the tuning. I simply played a normal D and used the -octave. Just don't play more then one note with the octave switch or it'll go crazy. It just doesn't sound good. My only other complaint is that there is sometimes a little buzz going on if you aren't playing.
first things first, "everything you want, nothing you don't." tons of fx and only one power source without all the amp modeling crap. brilliant. oh, and buy the ac adaptor cause it only comes with the 6AA batteries which can get expensive when you have to replace them. overall, the fx sound great, the distortion is great...etc. the noise reduction is real cool too for all those crappy guitars that feedback a lot. anyway, just buy the damn thing...you'll be glad you did.
I bought this multi effects after reading various reviews. Upon first purchasing it I was a little disappointed with the distortion sounds, but after some tweaking around I've found the perfect distortion sound for me. Ultra crunchy but doesn't lose any clarity especially when hooked up to a Gibson flying v. The chorus effects are beautiful when the right settings are dialed in and combined with the acoustic simulator and the right pick up selection on your guitar. You can get a real sweet acoustic sounding guitar. The effects foot pedal has an amazing wah sound to it and the best I've heard on an effects unit. Those are the main effects I use in my set up, however I have experimented with the other effects and the pedal offers almost limitless possibilities, combined with the 10 different banks you can have up to 30 different pre programmed sounds for any song you wish to play. This effects unit is exceptional and out plays all other units in its class. The only slight problem is the little delay between sounds which takes a little getting used to and tapping the pedal very slightly earlier than you would normally, and you've got a perfect change over. I use a Gibson flying v and a Hughs and Kettner warp 7 along with the boss me50 in my set up and it gets me all the sounds I'd ever need. I won't be changing this for a long time.
