"not good for channel switching"

Just a heads up for the latched version. I bought it to replace an amp footswitch. This does not operate like a normal amp footswitch. It engages when you push it down, but to disengage it, you have to push it down...THEN release it. It only disengages on the release. This may be fine for controlling other electronics, but traditionally, changes are always made on the stomp, not the release.

I bought a boss loop station, and now it seems I need 2 of these pedals to actually control it during live performances, and during recording. 1 pedal to select up in memory, and 1 to select down. Loop station is great quality though.

"It's Time to Switch"

This is a little add on that does one of those thankless jobs. I added 3 of these to my Boss ME-8B Bass Multieffects unit. It really expanded the capabilities of the effects unit. The polarity switch is an important feature of the FS-5U. Be sure to check the manual of the divice your going to use this pedal with to properly set the polarity. Another great feature is the tung and groove on the sides of the case. This allows multiple units to be slipped together, forming a pedal board of sorts. This little unit will add a lot flexability to your set up.

I bought my model FS 5L a year ago it was then a plastic housing though fairly thick and sturdy. It works great I use it for any of my amps that need a single button switch. The ONLY problem is that it takes a AAA battery with no way to hook it up to a power adapter. I had to cut into mine and install a connector for my all in one power transformer. I had to install a resistor in the circuit however because the voltage input is so low to the boss switch. It works fine now but I wish it was made out of metal as it says it now is. I cannot take the chance of the battery going dead in the middle of a performance.

I grabbed the Boss FS-5U Footswitch for use with my Boss BR-900CD, and it rocks! The compact metal casing and rubber bottom is very sturdy! The switch itself is made of plastic, but is still better than the Roland DP-2 that I was considering. I had also considered the Boss FS-6 dual pedal, but that model requires batteries or an AC adapter. The FS-5U requires neither, only needing a single 1/4" TS (mono) cable. The various foot switches that Boss makes can attach to the sides of one another, which is very convenient! However, this does create some sharp metal edges that can scratch other gear, so store it carefully. This is an excellent nonlatching footswitch, and I highly recommend it!
