Product Detail

Boss BR-1600CD Multitrack Digital Recorder

Easy Multitrack Recording
The BR-1600CD includes eight sweet-sounding XLR microphone inputs with phantom power. Use them to mic up a drum set or to record your entire band in a single pass. Recording eight tracks at once is easy, thanks to a new "Multi-Track" recording mode-just pick your inputs and start recording while taking advantage of powerful channel effects like a compressor, 3-band EQ, and bass-cut filter.

Superb Guitar and Vocal Effects
Plug into the BR-1600CD and you've got an arsenal of world-class BOSS effects ranging from reverb, delay, chorus, and modulation to the latest modeling effects for guitar, bass, and vocals. These include powerful overdrive/distortion and amp modeling identical to the BOSS GT-6, acoustic and bass effects, plus mic modeling and a new Vocal Tool Box. This special algorithm includes auto pitch correction to keep you in tune, plus a Harmony Sequence function for creating realistic harmonies-no background singers needed!

Build Your Own Backing Tracks
The BR-1600CD now includes separate Drum, Bass, and Loop Phrase tracks for creating complete backing arrangements. The Drum and Bass tracks come with high-quality PCM sounds. The Loop Phrase track can be loaded with user samples, or you can choose from a collection of loop phrases pre-loaded onto the hard disk. Using these tracks, you can build professional-quality arrangements for your guitar and vocals.

Complete Connectivity with USB and V-LINK
The BR-1600CD's USB port makes it easy to load .WAV/AIFF files into a track, or export your audio for further editing in software or data backup. Want to integrate video with your music? Using V-LINK and an optional Edirol video editor, you can control and manipulate images using the BR-1600CD's buttons and knobs. It's easy and you'll love the results. With the BR-1600CD, the sky's the limit!

" 8 tracks all at once makes it hard to beat for the price." by JMB

This is a first time experience with 123 for me, thanks to a very knowledgeable and flexible salesman (Thanks Doug) I was convinced to buy this unit. I'm looking forward to reducing the headaches of dual 4 tracks in my home office and the sludge sounds of our demos.

"Things to consider before buying" by Alan Sherman
1/26/2006 1:14:39 PM

Musical Experience: 20+ years
Style of Music: Everything
Hometown: Wisconsin

Being from the old school of analog recording I was your basic novice in the digital arena before I purchased the 1600CD. If I only would have known then what I know now I don't think this would be my first choice. I use it now to create and fine tune parts before going to another PC studio set up. If you do a lot of overdubbing you'll find that your hard disk space is quickly evaporated and a drive busy error message will keep coming up in the middle of a recording or playback session. If you use a lot of effects...forget it, you'd be lucky to get 4 tracks of a complete song, and then theres the hum...this is the real killer...something in the electronics of this unit creates a hum somewhere in the area of 60 cycles every couple of minutes or so. This sound is recorded and becomes background noise throughout your recording. On loader parts you can hide it but on vocals or an acoustic arrangement it can ruin your efforts. So to make a long story a little shorter I would say that if you want to make serious demo's or red book recordings...find another way.

"Great value and features - USB a little limited" by Gene
9/21/2004 2:46:53 PM

Musical Experience: Musician/Recording Engineer
Style of Music: All
Hometown: Raleigh, NC - USA

QUALITY:Built like a tank - okay just don't drop it and you should be fine. FEATURES:Features are great - best platform there is for mobile recording of live audio events. Can't beat 1/4 inch jack/8 XLRs with phantom power all inputs with compression EQ on every input! USB function is limited (one mono/stereo track at a time), but can be overcome by using WAV-MAKER-1600 software utility which is now available. Bass and drum machines are a definite plus. COSM amp models means you can build a whole gig around this thing and play live without a backing band or extra effects.EASE OF USE:Very easy to use. Recording 1, 2, or 8 tracks couldn't be easier to setup is very easy and intuitive.VALUE:The price is about right - not as expensive as the VS2000 but with a majority of the important features for recording live bands. You can mix and master and produce a CD all on the unit, although I personally use Cakewalk SONAR for that functionality after getting the WAV files off the BR-1600CDSOUND:Sound is great - I love the effects, they are very high quality. Pre-amps are pretty good, just keep single coiled pickups away from the unit and watch your gain settings.
