Product Detail

Blueridge BR-180 Historic Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
The Blueridge BR-180 Historic Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar is crafted with a select solid spruce top, hand-carved X-bracing, ebony bridge, ebony fingerboard, choice solid rosewood back and sides, and a traditional dovetail neck joint for pure Golden Era tone. Full D-45 style pearl and abalone ornamentation adorns the body, neck, and headstock, with an intricate abalone and pearl inlay on the headstock and a delicate wood marquetry back center strip. Aged finish completes the vintage Blueridge look. The slim mahogany neck and traditional dreadnought body make the BR-180 a truly enjoyable guitar to play.

The Historic Series offers authentic vintage style with strict adherence to the spirit of prewar guitars from the materials used to the ornate inlay work.

If you've been searching for a Golden Era guitar that isn't priced like it's made of gold, then Blueridge guitars are for you. Reminiscent of fine American guitars built prior to WWII, Blueridge guitars are made with the same techniques as their antique counterparts, including many by-hand processes.

Like the best instruments, Blueridge guitars aren't overbuilt; they're crafted to be light and resonant. Meticulous attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is evident in the traditional, forward-position, hand-carved parabolic X-bracing which allows the solid Spruce top to ring loud and true. Blueridge guitars feature a traditional dovetail neck joint, slim mahogany neck, adjustable truss rod, and butterbean-button, Kluson-style tuning machines with an updated mechanism for modern precision and feel.

"High-end sound quality, medium-end price." by CHRISW

Have tried many guitars in the price range, and many below, and many above. The Blue Ridges do seem to have some variation of quality between the same model between samples. However, if you have several of the same model to pick from you can cherry pick the best example, and in this case, I believe it flat out beats the same price competitors from popular brands. However, there may be other less known brands that have this same quality. I can not try all guitars that exist. In order to draw a comparison, I find the BR-180 to be superior to Martin D28 and HD28 and D35 in even tonal sound quality and overall build quality and finish. I have not had the opportunity to compare to the HD45. If had to, I would gladly spend $3000 for a fine quality acoustic. I do like to have the Made In U.S.A. legendary Martin -- but I did not perceive them as even being the equal to my BR-180 in any observable physical or subjective sound quality parameters. -Chris
