Decided to try a Low-Z connection with XLR connectors from my effects pedals to the mixer to see if it be better than using the High-Z TRS connectors. The Behringer ULTRA-DI DI400P Passive Direct Box was the least expensive product offered. But it is metal and seems well constructed and it works fine. The first noticable advantage is that with the longer low-z cable I can easily run the cable off to the sides of stage set-ups. Getting the cable off to the side means less duct taping when the cables are stretched out. I haven't noticed much difference in the sound quality but low-z is typically a better signal.
