Behringer MIC200 Tube ULTRAGAIN PreampBehringer MIC200 Tube Ultragain
The MIC200 can be used to warm-up the sterile, analytical sound of standard digital recordings and sound cards. It is also the perfect complement to studio-grade condenser microphones. When used as a high-end DI-box, it provides outstanding signal integrity. The TUBE ULTRAGAIN MIC200 includes a phase reverse switch, +48 V phantom power and 20 dB pad. Balanced 1/4" TRS inputs and outputs and gold-plated XLR connectors provide a nice finishing touch. In addition, it utilizes a carefully selected 12AX7 vacuum tube with UTC technology for exceptional warmth and low noise.

Works great as a splitter box DI - to the board and to the amp for bass. The presets on this are very well voiced and incredibly useful. Your choice of tube or discrete preamplification. The multi setting (tube + limiter) is fabulously full, warm and dimensional with passive bass pickups: you can get a tighter, cleaner sound with the op amp or keyboard setting if you wanted, or straight up neutral. Records very well direct and its pleasantly low noise, Acoustic guitar and vocals - dynamic or conderser mics are well served. haven't yet tried it on drums. It should have an on off switch, but I'll still give it top marks for such musicality and utility at such a low price.
I use the preamp with keyboards to smooth the sound, and make certain sounds less harsh in cheap speakers. The 200 works well and is a good buy. I wish there was a way to get rid of all wall wart transformers forever. Or, a least a standardized 9v model for all equipment on your rack.
