I wanted to downsize my setup. I had been using Mackie srm450's for monitors which were overkill. These speakers are significantly smaller and lighter. They feel solid, are very capable as vocal spot monitors and are certainly priced attractively. With that said, these speakers should in no way be seen as replacements for the Mackies. They ARE smaller, lighter and cheaper AND vastly inferior to the Mackies in terms of audio quality. I would hesitate to use them for mains even in a small room. They are pretty harsh and beamy in the upper mids and are nowhere near flat when pushed. (The stated power rating is taken at 1% distortion!) I would say the real power limit on these would be about 100 watts on the low end and 25 watts for the high. I don't mean to sound unhappy with my purchase. They work well in my intended application: vocal spot monitors on small to medium-sized stages. I've owned two Behringer products before and had sworn them off up to now. One is still going strong after ten years and the other didn't last a month past the warranty. I guess these will get the deciding vote in my question of Behringer reliability.

I bought these speakers for nothing but rehearsal and the plan to use them as monitors when we upgrade our equipment. Out of the box they felt very solid and well built. The pros: These speakers sound amazing. I am running them specifically for vocals and they cut through the mix just fine with plenty of head room without having to push them hard. The cons: If you are using these as monitors, the cabinet design doesn't make it very easy to get to the controls and the 1/4 in plugs stick pretty far off the back. They are listed at 400 watts but that is peak. They are more like 200 RMS. I would recommend these to anyone who needs to be loud with a budget
