I have one of these bought a while ago. If you take a thin piece of velcro and put it on the horn..THEN tighten the clamp...you will see that you shouldn't scratch your horn AND it won't slip. Real good solution for horns with no lyre mount.
Ok well it is a great lyre in terms that is holds the music secure and all, but it leave some major scratches on your instrument if you are not careful. I got some interesting ones that I can not get out. Overall it is a little bit of a pain to get on and off within a timely fasion, but I presume that if you left the mount on without the lyre piece, it would look ok, except the color differation. Overall I give it a 3 because, I hate the scratches that it left upon my instrument.
You can't find a better lyre for the Bach Strat. Mounts behind pinky ring. You can leave mount attached and hardley noticable when lyre is removed. Great for students who play the Bach Strat.
This lyre is great for if your trumpet is like a Stradivarius and doesn't have anywhere else to stick in any other type of lyre. However, if your trumpet doesn't really need this certain type, I would highly recommend against getting it. You've got to be extremely careful with it because it has the tendency to scratch up your trumpet and can be a pain to take off and put back on in a hurry. Overall, a great lyre for a Strad, but a poor lyre in other aspects.
