Ive been playing drums for about 15 years now, Ive dabbled in a number of different styles including jazz, funk, hip-hop, rock and most recently metal. Playing metal is what drove me to buy this pedals, and I have honestly never been happier with a musical product.
The first thing you notice as soon as you take these pedals out of the box is how light they are. They are incredibly strong but their weight and design allow the user to apply maximum force to the beater while applying minimal force to the pedal itself. The result of course, blazing speed. This pedal is not, however, only for those drummers who are looking to win the worlds fastest drummer competition. They are also incredibly versatile. Through my experience playing different styles of music, I feel different pedals have worked better for different styles and even for different songs within the same genre. Everything on this pedal is adjustable. Starting with the angle with which the beater hits the head, followed by the distance from the beater to the head, the height of the sonic hammer, the spring tension, the distance between the pedals, how far back the slave sits from the master and Axis even includes a switch on both pedals to adjust the overall tension of the board while keeping the bounce of the beaters constant. I would recommend this pedal to any drummer for three simple reasons. 1) No matter what type of pedal you are used to, you can achieve the same feel with these. 2.) The weight and design of the pedals do not hold you back, allowing for almost limitless possibilities in terms of speed, control and varying patterns. and 3.) The pedals are 100% solid, they come with a two year warranty but I can assure you it is not needed. Ive been beating on these bamfs for over 6 months now and nothing has changed since day one, the bolts stay tight and the joints havent offered even the tiniest squeak.
The only downside to be seen here is that they are quite pricey. However, if you are serious about drumming and looking to make a long term investment both in your hardware and in your playing, these pedals are for you.
