I personally own a Audio Technica 4033 Microphone and use it every time my band goes in to the studio for a recording session. The Audio Technica 4033 Studio Condenser Mic produces a very full rich clear tone on all acoustic instruments including the upright bass. My band also takes this mic on the road wherever we play festivals and use it if the promoter and sound person does not furnish one.I wouldn't be without my Audio Technica 4033!The 4033 does not require batteries, just 48 V phantom power. I only have two reasons for using this mic. #1-For live performance it is very easy to use for all members of the band and it allows freedom and movement on the bands part.It picks up every instrument as you are gathered around the mic and you don't have to force anything or play hard to be heard.#2-It eliminates a bad sound man. They just have to set it and leave it alone and let the band on stage work it. In summing up the Audio Technica 4033 Studio Condenser Microphone all I can say is "It's Great" and I rate it the highest!
The A.T.4033 is a classic. It works well with any kind of voice or instrument. Next best thing to it's TUBE big brother.
After 4 years of working with this microphone, I never stop surprising for its pristine sound.I use it primarily on human voices and strings (Guitars: Classical and Acoustic, Cuatro Venezolano, Charango) and allways obtained perfect results, even compared with a Newmann U87 which I have used for 3 years in similar instruments. I think it would make an excellent recording of pianos, bun havent had the opportunity to experiment with them.
