This pedal is absolutely the top pedal I have ever heard!!! It has that subtlety at a low setting but if you really crank it up then you get that lovely punchy percussive sound which is amazing!!!

"Great Bass Compressor!"

I've used a lot of compressors, including way more expensive rack units. This pedal is the best compressor for me. It always gives a great polished sound and with only two knobs it is super fast & easy to set up. If you've ever tried to set up rack compressors you know it is a hassle and sometimes you never manage to find a good sound. This one takes about 10 seconds. This compressor combined with the Aphex Bass Xciter pedal is a perfect marriage. I just leave both of them on ALL the time. Together they kill. My pedal board setup is a Whirlwind Selector box to the Punch Factory to a Bass Exciter to a Tech 21 Bass Driver. (I use a rack tuner.) With these 3 pedals I can cover 99.99% of every bass tone you ever heard. But, if I could have one and ONLY one pedal, it would be an Aphex Punch Factory compressor pedal. It makes my playing sound more professional. The Punch Factory has a direct out XLR with ground lift so you can use it as a direct box for recording or PA feed. I have been in many recording studios and radio stations. There is always Aphex gear in the processing racks at practically every single one. That should tell you something. I've had my Punch Factory for about 3 years now. No problems. I power it from the pedal board power supply, but you can also power it with phantom power from a mixer too! Just too cool. It isn't perfect. The jacks are the "PC Board Mounted" type, which is sort of worrisome. Eventually that might give a problem. Be gentle...and I'd go for the extended warranty on this item precisely because of that. Also I want to tell you that I talked a guitarist into trying it too. He bought one and found it generated too much hiss into his Fender Twin. I don't have a problem like that using it for bass into my Ampeg B2RE. So I'm recommending it for bass. TIP: Put it first in the chain so it isn't pulling up noise from your other pedals!
