this amp is amazing. its all tube which means warm smooth sound. great for any style of music. sounds great with the 810e cab, and a j-bass, stingray, or any bass with good low end. you will never need to buy another bass head in your lifetime.

It's a lot of money but you will never want another amp after you buy this one, trust me. I got mine almost 7 months ago and it changed my life. I will have it till my dying day. I play in a Punk/Rock & Roll band and with my SVT 6x10 I have a deadly combination. This is "THE" best Rock & Roll bass amp ever made. Because it's a tube amp, it weighs 85lbs so eat your wheaties or hire a roadie. You just can't beat the sound of this amp. I looked at a lot of other brands because I didn't know if I wanted to part with the cash but now I'm so glad I did.

After years of amplifiers, effects pedals, and processors, I decided to just go and get the Ampeg. Best decision ever. I have matched this head with the svt 6 x 10, and it is just amazing. If you really want the tube sound, you must get the tubes, for there is no substittute. There is plenty of power to play anywhere with anybody, and the warmth of the sound is incredible. I no longer have any devices between my bass and my amp, it is not necessary. Simply put, you will not regret buying this one.

My first experience with an SVT and 8x10 cab was in '71. The amp and cab were awfully road worn, but it shook the whole building and sounded like the wrath of God. The current SVT I really like. It is crisp, clean, and still has that earthquake thing while sounding sweet. "Sweet" is not quite the correct word; you get the idea. Stand back. The head weighs a ton and your neighbors will hate you if you use this thing for a practice amp. Frankly, it's weirdly funny how you can blow away both the drums and a Marshall stack. Cool. Not one other way to be.
