I have owned one of these for 6 years and it performs like no other! Whether it is in the studio or live on stage the guitar is simply wonderful! I play out approx. two times per week, and as of late, have done a lot of recording. The guitar sounds great every time I take it out of the case! I would recommend this guitar to anyone who plays seriously and can take the time to truly appreciate this fine piece of work!!
I have been playing guitar since 1974 and decided to buy myself something really nice. I chose to get a WY1K and I have to say I couldn't be happier. It excels in every way including the neck, action, sound, electronics and appearance. I bought it sight unseen on the internet and have no regrets. It is probably the last acoustic guitar I will ever buy.
This guitar is sweet. I got one a couple months ago and haven't played my other guitars (well, my Les Paul a little) at all. This is honestly a guitar to end all guitars. I'll never buy another acoustic. The sound that comes out of this instrument is amazingly warm in the lows and mids and the highs are perfectly matched.Alvarez has done it. Buy this guitar and you'll never buy another.
This instrument is just so beautiful. You just have to be careful how to use it. My opinion is that it is best suited as a solo instrument. The sound is so beautiful, bright, articulate and by no means versatile. It's not a "let's go sing songs by the campfire guitar". I don't know how bob weir uses it live. I think he has searching for a very certain sound that would create a certain blend with the other band members. I've seen a guy play solo jazz guitar on this and he sounded unbelievable. Before seeing him you would be sure there was a piano player in the room. I bought one about a year later. Anyway, my point is that this is a unique and truly brilliant sounding instrument that is not meant for just anybody. Just know what you're getting into before you buy one. I think this is one of the few acoustic electrics actually meant to be amplified. I'd love to own one again soon.
This is the best acoustic guitar I've ever touched. Unlike other brands, which sound different when amplified, this one sounds the same!!!!
