When you buy a guitar in the $1000 price range, you have a right to expect great sound, quality construction and materials. This guitar meets this criteria in every way with no disappointments whatsoever. The sound is truly incredible. It is an exceptionally beautiful guitar as well. Fit, finish and details are outstanding. No issue with frets, intonation, or action at all. Every time I go to my lesson, my teacher wants to play it. Then I really enjoy the sound. He has a masters in classical and jazz performance while I am a relative beginner. Since I bought this guitar, 3 months now, I find myself practicing much more just because I love the looks and sound of this guitar. I also have a Takamine EC132 which I love but as far as pure acoustic sound, the CY118 blows it away, as it should since the Tak is a cutaway electric. Its hard for me to justify spending $1000 on a guitar since I have no intentions of playing professionally, but I have not regretted it. A guitar can't make you a better player, but one you can't put down has to help you improve.
