I am very impressed by the AJ60S. A person would have to look long and hard to find another guitar made this well at this price point - that is, if such a guitar exists.The AJ60S's bright highs and rich bass tones are a testament to excellent tonewoods fit tightly together. The overall construction is superb. There are no dips or sagging to be seen anywhere on its top and this is indicative of good, solid bracing. This guitar should stand up well to the test of time.My only disappointment is that the frets certainly could use better finishing. They are scratchy when bending notes, but not obscenely so. I've seen worse, and in all honesty, guitars I've used that had perfectly smooth frets had cost a lot more than the AJ60S.Cosmetically, the guitar is more beautiful than I had hoped for. The graining of the maple back is exquisite. The abalone decoration on the headstock was a nice surprise (in photos it looked like a mere decal), and there's just something about a blonde-on-blonde jumbo acoustic that sends me over the moon.
I received my Alvarez jumbo last week and was totally satisfied with the beautiful workmanship and sound! I actually chose this guitar over some of the higher priced Martins because sound , tone and assembly is better than a lot of high end Martins I played. Good work Alvarez!. A real fine instrument.
This guitar is a dream for beginners or us players with some years and skill who love the feel of a well crafted instrument that doesn't drain out our bank account. A delightful and bright sound but full of warmth that only comes from maple. Also the action on the frets from 1st fret up is flawless and makes even complex chording or fretting a matter of technique and not a feat of strength. A wonderful and visually appealing instrument for players of all skill levels. I highly recommend the AJ60OS!
The Jumbo is Amazing, it produces some of the greatest tones you will ever hear, I'd go even as far as to say it is one of the greatest acoustic guitars ever made. It is surprisingly light for a jumbo, yet doesn't feel like it was made from cheap wood. If you're thinking of buying a different jumbo, think again.
