The picture doesn't do this guitar justice. Koa wood is in the redwood family. The red cast, deep golden, lighter wood in the grain is broken up by the dark brown/blackish colors in the wood. I can barely tell there is a seam in it. When I have taken mine out, I always hear, "Wow! that's beautiful." Then, when they hear it, I'm always reassured I got my money's worth. The frets are marked on the side of the neck, so a new player doesn't have to keep tilting the guitar, making them more comfortable holding it while they play. Consider the built in tuner a bonus, for a guitar that is both acoustic and electric! Sometimes, you just like to play quitely to your self and other times you want to be heard. This does both!

This is a wonderful guitar. It had a nice low action right out of the box. It was easy to play and sounded great. It is the same electronics found in the high end Alvarez and Yairi guitars. They too are great. I bought this as a starter and it is much more than that. I have been playing a year now and I am in a Christian Praise Band. It sounds great for that. I have since purchased a higher end guitar, but this one holds its own with its more expensive brother. I did sound work for years and I think it sounded sweet. I would recommend this to anyone stepping up or even beginners who need a great sound.
