Alesis M1 Active 620 100W Active Near-Field Reference Monitors Factory B-Stock
Alesis M1 Active 620 Monitors (pair)

Alesis, recognized the world over as a leading manufacturer of electronic keyboards, recording products, and studio electronics, is pleased to introduce the M1 Active 520 and 620 studio reference monitor speakers. Representing Alesis' third generation of the M1 Active Series, the M1 Active 520 and 620 offer incredible definition and flat frequency response from their high-precision drivers and professionally crafted crossovers. With a bold new look, re-designed drivers, plus Bass Density control and EQ, these affordable, high-precision active reference monitors deliver superb sonic clarity that must be experienced to be fully appreciated. The M1 Active 2-way, nearfield reference monitors incorporate a 1-inch thick front baffle to minimize speaker resonance, and their visually stunning acoustic waveguide evenly disperses high-frequency program material throughout the sound field-facilitating superior imaging with minimal diffraction. The M1 Active 520 features a 75-watt amplifier coupled with a 5-inch low frequency woofer, while the M1 Active 620 features a 100-watt amplifier and 6.5-inch low frequency woofer. Both models employ a 1-inch silk dome tweeter for pristine, crystal-clear highs. The M1 Active 520 and 620 are magnetically shielded for close placement to video monitors in computer-based music production environments and their rear port design provides deep bass extension and increased SPL. Unique and particularly useful is the M1 Active's new Bass Density technology, which facilitates tailoring the sound of these monitors to the control room's acoustics. With their Hi, Mid, and Low Frequency EQ switches designed to accommodate user preference and sub-woofers, as well as the distinctive top-mounted power/clip indicator to advise of clipping conditions, the M1 Active 520 and 620 are the "right tools for the job" when it comes to critical listening. Alesis CEO Jack O'Donnell commented on the new M1 Active 520 and 620 studio reference monitors, "Our long history of speaker manufacturing has gone into these new products. These monitor speakers are the perfect solution for a variety of media outlets, including recording studios, radio broadcast, and post-production facilities."

"There are far better monitors out there"

Very disappointing monitors. There's an audible hiss even when the volume is turned down and no inputs are connected. I've checked a second pair which were guilty of the exact same problem. Also the monitors boost the high frequencies, which sweetens the sound, but baring in mind these are monitors, renders them useless for mixing. Also an untrue softened bass response. I don't usually write these things but thought I might be able to save someone the long journey I've had to make to return them!

After months of research -- I bought the M1 Active 520s (pair). Simply put, for computer monitoring/mixing there are no other reference monitors in this price range that compete with Alesis, period. Follow the recommended Acoustic Space [switch] settings (couldn't be easier) and never look back; perfect translation, abundant power with no ear fatique, superior craftsmanship inside & out. Stop looking. Buy these.
