Alesis 3630 Dual-Channel Compressor/Limiter with GateAlesis 3630 Compressor
The most popular dynamics processor ever madeSince its introduction, the 3630 Compressor™ has become the most popular dynamics processor ever made. The reason is easy to understand: it provides two independent full-featured compressor/ limiters in one rack space while offering excellent sonic quality for any application from studio recording to live sound or broadcast. The 3630 offers Ratio, Threshold, Attack and Decay controls to customize its compression response for even the toughest signals. You can also choose between RMS and Peak compression styles, plus Hard and Soft Knee dynamic curves for every application from subtle gain control to in-your-face punch. As an independent dual-channel compressor, the 3630 offers separate controls for two different source signals. Plus, two fully independent gates with threshold and rate controls allow you to easily and efficiently stifle unwanted ambient noise. Other advanced dynamics processing features such as precise signal metering, a sidechain for keying or ducking effects and stereo linkable operation make the 3630 the most powerful compressor in its class.
Its popular for a reason! Get the Alesis 3630 and compress with total sonic satisfaction!
This unit is a great value. Rackmount for the price of a pedal effect. Does an excellent job limiting or compressing and though the gate can be a little finicky it is simple to set up and use.
I use this compressor limiter when I play my Fender Tele. The Compressor Limiter gives my Tele a Whole New Sound that I love. I also use the Compressor limiter when recording vocals and it does a good job. For the money, this compressor limiter is hard to beat.
This is a classic, simple compressor/limiter/gate, with a nice "old school" warm sound. The manual is thin but adequate, because the 3630 doesn't get much more complicated than sidechain (for keying and ducking, both very cool features). I primarily use mine in an effects chain with my guitar amp, mostly for the noise gate to get sharp, brittle cutoffs when I want staccato; but I also often use the compressor/limiter functions on one or two tracks from my multitrack during mixdown (I use a multi-band for the overall mastering). The stereo link/dual mono feature works just fine. No complaints at all, actually, worth the money.
I've had a Behringer MDX-2600 and that was the best they had to offer. But it didn't do the job. Sound was poor and thin when using that device. So I had to bring the power with other components from behringer. Always problems with the dB. Thin Sounds, and you always heard the compressor work in the sound. Now I have the Alesis 3630. What a machine!!! Sound fat and sharp. Does the trick easily. Sound as it use to sound.
