January 2008, I ordered two of these pre-amps, and they are good. My interest is mainly guitar, so I use these to "tube" up my sound for greater warmth and depth. I have discovered the ART MP is great for livening up a microphone that may be too "damp" with different impedance levels. The MP brightens up that muddy, distant sound.
If you ever get into that, "Geez, my mic doesn't work with this lousy mixer" situation, just slap in your ART MP. I bet you solve the problem.

I've had this several months now, so I finally feel comfortable writing a review about it.
It's actually pretty good. I used to pass my guitar through an old tube loudspeaker before I got this, but this item has a much better sound.
When you add cables and devices such as this, you're going to get some additional line noise (like a mild hissing). However, I have found that if you turn up the input knob and try to keep the output knob low, you minimize this hissing. Actually, when you set it up like this, there's almost no additional hiss, which is great!
Don't be fooled by it's small size, this thing can output quite a bit of power, especially when you engage the 20db gain. By the way, don't expect the needle on the VU meter to really move on a lower setting. The way I have it set up, I'm not using all of its potential. But anyway, it's great for distortion, but most importantly, you can get a warm sound that's clean. Transistors can imitate but never replace valves.
At this price, you won't have any regrets. I'm happy with it!
By the way, I am using this with a Fender American Strat and a Marshall MG-30DFX amp.
Good luck!
