Amazing functionality and quality for the price. The sound quality, in my opinion, is excellent. I tried a terribly crappy vocal mic with it, and the MP Studio made it sound decent. My SM57 sounds amazing going through it. I highly recommend it for any audio situation as I'm sure you'll find a good use for it.

I normally do not rate as high, but for the price and the application of this product it was totally worth it. For a single channel pre-amp, especially paired with a decent microphone of choice, it has been wonderful. Sound quality is superb, and it has a warm tone once tuned to specifications. I would definitely suggest for anyone testing out the waters of light audio editing/production as well as podcasting.

I have the ART TPS-II, which is basically a 2-channel rack-mount version of this unit with presets, and I'm very happy with it both live and in the studio. I'm probably going to buy a couple of these units as extras & to keep in my "gig box". These would make great gifts for guitarists or keyboard players to add a little "oomph" to the signal & tone.

Thats about it, a real cheap way to get some more volume for your mic/vocalist. Its a little noisy. I think I am going to experiment with a better quality tube and see if that doesn't help a bit. Really though for the price you can't beat it for what it does.

This is the second MP PreAmp that I have pirchased. The first ended the feedback problems that follow harmonica players around as they look for more volumne. Plenty of volumne, no feedback, problem solved. The second was for an accustic mandolin with an external pickup. Internal hollow body feedback was a problem as the nobs are twisted at the amp. The ART MP controled the gain side of pickup while allowing for plenty of amp volumne. Problem solved. This is a great piece of equiptment for live performance.

January 2008, I ordered two of these pre-amps, and they are good. My interest is mainly guitar, so I use these to "tube" up my sound for greater warmth and depth. I have discovered the ART MP is great for livening up a microphone that may be too "damp" with different impedance levels. The MP brightens up that muddy, distant sound. If you ever get into that, "Geez, my mic doesn't work with this lousy mixer" situation, just slap in your ART MP. I bet you solve the problem.

Clean preamp with a just a little more. Excellent device for controlling gain structure.

I have seen these little preamps in the studio's out here and was blown away on how amazing that they sound ! I have been talking them up to everyone that I know. They are the greatest deal and warm up any situation really well. I use it for a preamp for a couple of my acoustics when recording and when playing live to give that extra nice warm touch ! You can't go wrong with these .. The only thing you could bad that you could do is not have enough of them around !!!!

I figured out how to use it for what I needed it for (and that was to warm and give a bit of power to my dry bass lines I was lining direct into my TASCAM US-144 interface). BUT, I found I could use all that tubey goodness to bring that same warmth to my Guitar and vocals! How awesome is that?

I've had this several months now, so I finally feel comfortable writing a review about it. It's actually pretty good. I used to pass my guitar through an old tube loudspeaker before I got this, but this item has a much better sound. When you add cables and devices such as this, you're going to get some additional line noise (like a mild hissing). However, I have found that if you turn up the input knob and try to keep the output knob low, you minimize this hissing. Actually, when you set it up like this, there's almost no additional hiss, which is great! Don't be fooled by it's small size, this thing can output quite a bit of power, especially when you engage the 20db gain. By the way, don't expect the needle on the VU meter to really move on a lower setting. The way I have it set up, I'm not using all of its potential. But anyway, it's great for distortion, but most importantly, you can get a warm sound that's clean. Transistors can imitate but never replace valves. At this price, you won't have any regrets. I'm happy with it! By the way, I am using this with a Fender American Strat and a Marshall MG-30DFX amp. Good luck!
