AKG C 2000 B/H100 Microphone with Shockmount
With its superior characteristics including 30Hz-20kHz range, 20mV/Pa, -34dBV0 20dB-A sensitivity, 74dB S/N ratio, and 140/150dB maximum SPL, this cardioid condenser mic is one you'll turn to time and again for all kinds of digital tracking projects. Includes spider suspension mount and hardshell case.

Versatitly, value, and quality
One of the basic rules of recording is that the quality of the recorded signal is determined by the weakest link in the signal chain. Today, any microphone needs to match the high quality of 24-bit recording media.

Therefore, one of the most important requirements for the C 2000 B was high sensitivity. This allows you to lay clean, noise-free tracks with no risk of noise levels from many individual tracks combining in the mix. Its high-SPL capability makes the C 2000 B a highly versatile microphone that can be used even for extremely loud instruments.

Requires phantom power.

"A high gain mic with low noise contribution and flat response."

I like to use this mic, as opposed to dynamics, when I do environmental recordings. It has a great gain for picking up even the smallest of sounds, yet doesn't add significant noise. The low pass filter on the mic is great also, if you don't have a low pass filter on your your preamp. I have a set of two (wish I had a dedicated case) of the these babies. Great buy. I wouldn't trade them in. Incidentally, the mic's housing is nicely transparent by 360 and on top. I find that this doesn't impede the cardioid pattern and you'll have a nice spacial sound especially if things are moving.

I record rock music using my computer and a few external devices and this little baby picks up so much sound that I am going to build a padded room just so it doesn't pick up the computer's fan, the people in the kitchen talking, or my dog barking in the back yard. UNREAL! The sensitivity is just incredible and it makes even me sound good. I tossed my EV mic for this one. WELL WORTH IT and me not having barely any money, it sure went a long way on this purchase. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
