I was used to using a 100 watt Peavey bass amp but whenever I turned it up loud, it started to buzz and you could barely hear any of the bass notes. But I had heard that Ampeg made the best bass amps around so I gave it a try. This Amp was incredible! You can turn it up and it still sounds great. The sound is so pure it's like no other. This amp is great for playing in small clubs or bars. I now know the only way to go is AMPEG!
This amp is one of the best 100-wats i have every played and owned, the tone and durablilty is outstanding. you cant go wrong with this amp
I got my Ampeg about 2 months ago and it sounds great. It has crisp sound even at high volume levels. There is an awesome style switch that u can adjust to stress high notes or low notes and also have a unique sound to each of the five styles. The amp makes my old bass sound brand new. It doesn't look like the best amp, but don't let it fool u. This blows the Fender Rumble and the Crates out of the water.
After a year of constant use, this amp is still solid as a rock. Durable construction, easy to use. Simple controls (style/treble/mid/bass) located on top along with input and master volumes and a direct out. The power amp could definitely push the speaker a lot harder if it was more powerful and the tweeter does hiss but who cares when its cranked. The handle on top makes me worried but its still on there. The amp cant be expected to stand up against a Marshall stack, but it does hold up well with two fender deluxes. I purchased the BA115 Anniv., which adds a nice look to the amp (dark blue with silver grille) instead of the normal black. Simple, straight forward Ampeg tone. Can't be beat in its range.
Of course only trusting Ampeg in the industry of bass amps you can tell this amp is just killer. Having a svt pro 3 head, some Ampeg cabs and a b2r for smaller shows, I needed something that was all put together for easy transportability and didn't have too much power for some small club gigs. Regretting all the wasted time, I went in search for another brand combo just for curiosity. SWR, literally blew my ears off from its lame tone, Fender amps were ok but I still went back to the Ampeg. Beefy, powerful, gorgeous tone, all in a hefty little combo made to make your audience feel the power of bass and get into the music. Don't bother with Fender amps or "SWR", get the real deal and go with an Ampeg. This can sound just like a tube amp. Portability is key to this amp too. I just leave it in my little practice garage for my band and just plug my bass in for a good rehearsal or practice. Also good with small shows. GET IT IF YOU ARE IN THE PRICE RANGE, DON'T GET A HARTKE WITH TWICE THE POWER FOR THE SAME PRICE, IT'S NOT EVEN AS LOUD AS THIS AND SOUNDS NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD.
